Though price shopping with a number of different service providers is often a good idea, with photography this is not necessarily so.
Well established photographers, on the other hand, are unlikely to have prices that are negotiable as they do not need to haggle in order to procure business.
2. You Sign the Paperwork Without Looking it Over First
Most professional photographers will not willingly try to misrepresent themselves or get clients to sign paperwork that is incorrect. However, mistakes can always be made and once a person signs a contract, it is legally binding. Be certain to read everything thoroughly before placing your signature on the dotted line. Also make sure to include any verbal agreements in writing on the contract.
3. You Do Not Trust Your Own Instincts
A gut reaction to a person, product, or service should be given full attention. If your instincts tell you something is amiss, it probably is.
4.You Assume the Photographer Will Dress and Behave Appropriately
When you meet with the photographer for the first time, you can assume that how he or she dresses and behaves will be similar to that at the wedding. Therefore, if the photographer wears jeans and a t-shirt to meet with you, consider how that would look at your wedding. Similarly, watch his or her conduct. If it is unprofessional in a business meeting, it will likely be the same at the ceremony.
5. You Overlook Issues With the Sample Album
A sample album will tell you more about the photographer than he can tell you himself. Look over the sample album closely, asking questions about equipment and technique. Also pay close attention to the pictures in the album. Are they all from the same wedding or are they a series of shots from multiple weddings? A professional photographer will be able to show you an album from one wedding, displaying the skill it takes to repeatedly take high quality photographs.
Also make sure that the sample album is from the photographer who will be at your wedding. If you have any doubt that the album is a true representation of the photographer who shows it to you, you should look elsewhere.
