Infertility cost is the price you pay in treating a person’s inability to conceive a child. The cost varies and depends upon what treatment, what frequency of that treatment and how specialized that treatment is.

In treating post cystic ovulation syndrome (PCOS), the cost depends upon the drugs to be administered and what assisted method of reproduction will be used. Clomid is cheap and the normal cost for Clomid for a cycle is $40. The normal cost for generic clomiphene citrate is $15. Injectable Gonadotropins cost approximately $40-$70 per 75 unit ampule and it takes 0.5-6 ampules per day for about 8-14 days to have a successful administration. Metformin cost $0.87 per pill at normal dosage. Two weeks of administration at 3xday will cost $36.50. For FSH or follicle stimulating hormone, a wholesale acquisition cost of 30 vials will save up to $447 to $520 the whole treatment.

For assisted reproduction, one cycle of IVF (in vitro fertilization) costs ranges from $8,000 to $10,000 and it depends on what type of specialized IVF will be used. For IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) process, this includes sperm washing that costs $200-$300 and may exceed up to $5,000-$6000 if injectable medications and monitoring are included. A frozen embryo transfer cost at an average of $2,500. This method recovers any eggs not used in an IVF phase. Gamete Intrafallopian Transfer (GIFT) and Zygote intrafallopian transfer (ZIFT) costs much higher to IVF for it includes surgery. The cost ranges from $10,000 to $15,000.

For combination cost of drugs and assisted reproduction, this is an estimated quote that covers the patient up to first pregnancy test costing $900 per fertility treatment cycles: TIMED IUI, which includes sonograms/lab work. Another one is the CLOMID IUI, which includes sonograms/lab work (medication not included) in the package that covers the patient up to first pregnancy test normally costs $950. However, for more advanced treatment, FSH IUI, which includes semen analysis, sperm preparation and insemination that includes all sonograms and hormonal test required for monitoring $1,815 (prescribed medication are not included). IVF, with pre-payment discount of $6,190 plus ICSI (may be required for serious infertility among males) amounting to $1,500 and embryo cryopreservation (offering one year of storage) worth $750. Another option is the Donor Frozen Embryo Transfer with screening worth $1,000 and embryo transfer $2,500. For Egg Donation, cycle cost ranges from $18,000 to $20,000. Tubal Reversal that includes surgeon’s fee $3,000, anesthesia charge $800 and facility fees $2,400 are also available.

For some clinics, prices stated above do not include the cost of preliminary session for consulting, analysis on semen or screening for any existing infectious disease. All figures indicated are only estimates and are subject to vary whenever necessary. You can gauge how much will it cost for a couple to bear a child with the help of artificial means by the use of the charges and how much the fees are stated.

Despite the fact that the majority of women spend all their time trying not to get pregnant, it is vital to know that convincing a baby is not really as easy as many people think or imagine. In fact, getting pregnant is a very difficult thing and it does depend on the person. It might just seem so frustrating trying to get pregnant but it is always good to keep the faith.

It is crazy how much of our lives we spend trying NOT to get pregnant, and then we get older, we start doing everything in our power to get pregnant. LOL! Did you know that there is actually only about a 30% chance of pregnancy per month, for a couple in perfect fertility health! Also, less than 25% of couples, who try to conceive, succeed in doing so during the first month of trying. And just 85% succeed after trying for a whole year!

If you’ve been trying more than 6 months to get pregnant and have no known fertility issues, you should call your doctor and schedule an appointment to talk about your plan of action! Yes getting pregnant is really difficult especially if you have some complications. You are considered as infertile if you have been trying for over a year to get pregnant. This does not mean you can’t conceive, but you might just need some special help to make it happen for you.

If you have been trying for about 12 months to get pregnant and not really succeeding, then I have a recommendation for you. There is this great fertility enhancement guide that has proven to be very effective in curing infertility and increasing women’s chances of naturally conceiving. The guide is called The Pregnancy Miracle Guide and I will recommend it to any woman who is having issues with conceiving.

Well, that’s no problem because most experts would say that on the average, the best days to get pregnant are the 14th to the 16th day after you get your period.

You would probably ask, “What if I don’t get a regular period? How can I determine when the best days to get pregnant are?” First of all, when you don’t get regular periods, you probably have Amenorrhea. It is a disease that causes your menstrual cycle to change from month to month. Sometimes, it can even stop your period completely. It would be best to set up an appointment with a doctor to get yourself checked. Hopefully, they can diagnose the problem correctly and give you the best course of action to get a conception.

There are other ways to tell whether you are ovulating or not, even without a calendar. First, listen carefully to your body. When your body is ovulating, it sends signals like lower abdominal cramps and twinges of pain. When you feel these symptoms, the egg in your body is being released from the ovaries. You can also check whether you are ovulating or not through your body temperature or the cervical mucus that comes out of your vagina.

However, if you don’t want to check your body temperature or your cervical mucus just to determine the best days to get pregnant, then you can always buy an Ovulation Predictor Kit or OPK. This kit will test the amount of luteinizing hormone or estrogen in your body. The level of these 2 hormones often peak before ovulation which will tell you 12-24 hours in advance if you will ovulate.

For many couples facing infertility, the largest hurdle is how to finance costly infertility treatments. IVF can cost tens of thousands of dollars for a single cycle, if you’re paying out of pocket. (Interestingly, if you are considering adoption as an alternative option to infertility treatments, you may find that cost won’t be your deciding factor, as the legal and agency fees involved in adoption are pretty similar to the cost for a single IVF cycle.) If you visit infertility forums or infertility support groups, you’ll quickly see that for many women multiple IVF cycles were the key to becoming pregnant. So — are there ways to avoid paying out of pocket for all this?
Fortunately the answer is probably yes. If you have health care coverage through your employer, check to see whether infertility treatments are already covered. If they are not, contact the insurance company to see whether it offers a supplemental policy. A supplemental policy is simply another policy with monthly premiums that specifically covers infertility treatments. There’s no reason your supplemental policy needs to come from your primary health care insurer if they do not provide one. You should shop around and compare premiums, coverage, and any criteria that you must meet before coverage begins.

Supplemental infertility insurance will usually cover diagnostic fertility tests, artificial insemination, fertility medications, and other types of assisted reproductive technology like IVF. Be careful to look at the conditions to these supplemental policies (or, if you are lucky enough to have coverage through your primary insurance, look for conditions spelled out there). An insurance company is motivated to encourage the lowest cost treatment options possible, and also to be sure they aren’t funding aggressive treatments for a couple that simply has not gotten pregnant but show no signs of infertility. As a result, policies might require that a couple be married for some period of time and have tried to get pregnant without success for at least a year. Sometimes that needs to be backed up with reports from the woman’s OBGYN or primary care provider. Many plans will also require that a couple try less aggressive (and less expensive) treatments like medication or IUI before providing coverage for IVF. Finally, most insurance plans will limit the number of IVF cycles they will cover. Anywhere from 3 to 5 appears to be a typical range these days.

Be sure though to understand when your insurance company will consider an IVF cycle to have begun. That might require a phone call to the insurance company if it’s not spelled out clearly in the policy documents that you read. The reason for this is that often a fertility doctor or clinic will stop an IVF cycle midstream if it looks like it won’t be successful (for instance, if the woman is not producing the number of expected follicles). The fertility doctor or clinic might then adjust the treatment protocol (dosages of medications for instance) to get better results on the next cycle. If your insurance company considers your IVF cycle to have already begun as soon as you begin injectable medication, for example, it may be in your interest to see the cycle through to the end even if your doctor thinks that your chances of getting pregnant on that protocol are lower than he or she would like. Explain to them that you’ve got for example “3 strikes” with your insurance company, and you don’t want to lose one on a cycle that isn’t taken through to completion.

Planning to have a baby? There are steps you can take before you ever become pregnant to help ensure a smooth pregnancy and a healthy outcome for you and your infant.

Sally L. Avenson, a nurse midwife who teaches in the University of Washington School of Nursing and maintains a private midwifery practice, offers a number of suggestions for women who are expecting babies — or hoping to.

Practice good nutrition

“It’s wonderful to go into pregnancy healthy,” says Ms. Avenson. Good eating habits are important to help minimize the likelihood of problems. “And the peace of mind is wonderful, knowing you’re doing everything you can to give your baby a good start.”

Ms. Avenson says it’s probably a good idea to take a vitamin supplement, with special emphasis on the B vitamins. Lack of one of the B vitamins, folic acid, in the mother has been linked with spine bifida (open spine) in the newborn. (The usual recommended amount of folic acid supplement is 400 micrograms a day.) However, excessive amounts of some vitamins can be harmful, so check with your healthcare provider before you start taking vitamins.

Practice healthy living

Plan on regular exercise, get enough rest and sleep, and try to keep stresses to a minimum. “It’s an opportune time to make changes,” says Ms. Avenson. “If you’re motivated, you can do wonderful things.” Strive to exercise regularly, raising your pulse rate, but not to the point that you can no longer converse.

Don’t smoke

Smoking retards the growth — including the brain — of the fetus, and can affect the child’s learning potential. “The connection has been made over and over,” says Ms. Avenson. Mothers who smoke also have an increased rate of obstetrical complications, including pre-term labor, and premature separation of the placenta, which provides nourishment to the unborn baby. There is a higher rate of miscarriage among smokers, says Avenson, and the rate is related to the number of cigarettes smoked on a daily basis. “So it’s worthwhile even to cut down on smoking, although it’s much better to quit,” she says.

Abstain from alcohol

“The best strategy is abstinence,” stresses Ms. Avenson. While heavy drinking may cause fetal alcohol syndrome (which causes facial deformities, and severe behavioral and learning difficulties), any alcohol may result in a milder condition called fetal alcohol effect (FAE). Because there are no abnormalities in the child’s appearance, FAE is more difficult to diagnose, but may cause behavior problems. Like cigarettes, alcohol’s challenges to the fetus are dose-related. Binge drinking causes more problems than moderate drinking.

Refrain from substance abuse

Seek help if you have a drug problem, and remember that the child you’re carrying has an even stronger response to drugs than you do.

Seek help in abusive situations

Statistics show that domestic violence often begins or increases when a woman is pregnant, because she is more vulnerable and dependent and makes an easier target. “There’s such secrecy and stigma attached to the victims,” Ms. Avenson says. “Call the domestic abuse hotline and get a referral to someone who can help.”

Visit your provider early

See your health care provider as soon as you suspect you’re pregnant. “It’s wonderful to have early visits,” says Ms. Avenson. “Be assertive about health care planning, and educate yourself to make good choices. If the health care provider you go to doesn’t suit your needs, don’t be afraid to make a change. Be proactive when it comes to your pregnancy.”

You’ve yet to hear a single tick-tock, but lurking beneath your killer abs is a biological clock that will start buzzing eventually–and you can only hit the snooze button so many times. So what do you do if you’re not ready to push out a baby rightthissecond but think you’ll want to become a mom someday, maybe even get pregnant over 40? Luckily, fertility for women isn’t a total crapshoot. And though you can’t put off pregnancy indefinitely (despite exceptions like Marcia Cross, your odds of conceiving drop substantially after age 35), there’s plenty you can do to help keep your body in peak baby-making form.

Watch your diet
What’s good for your arteries is also good for your eggs. Jorge Chavarro, M.D., a research fellow at the Harvard School of Public Health and co-author of The Fertility Diet, tracked the fat intake of nearly 18,000 women as they tried to get pregnant. Women who gobbled more healthy unsaturated fats (think olive oil and avocados) were less likely to experience infertility due to ovulation problems than those whose diets contained more trans fats.

Sleeping positions for pregnant women is an important topic for pregnant women but one they might not think about until they find they are struggling to get a good night of sleep. The sooner you know how to properly sleep during pregnancy the more comfortable and healthy your pregnancy will be. Maternity pillows are also a great little secret for expecting moms to learn about to improve their sleep while pregnant.

Sleeping on your left side is the best of all sleeping positions because you won’t put pressure on your internal organs, blood vessels, and back muscles. You can place the maternity pillow behind your back so that you won’t roll over while sleeping. You can also place it in front so that you can hug it. There are benefits of sleeping on your side. It is common to see pregnant women with swollen legs, feet, and hands. The inferior vena cava is the blood vessel responsible for circulating blood to your legs and feet. If you lie on your back, you will put pressure on this blood vessel and so proper circulation is hindered.

When this happens, even the internal organs like the kidneys and liver won’t be able to function effectively. The wastes and other fluid will not be eliminated thereby causing sleepless nights and swollen feet or legs.

Some women find it difficult to stay in the side sleeping position all night or they find it unnatural or uncomfortable. A great little tool to help maintain the correct side sleeping position is with a maternity pillow. These full body pillows offer pregnant women support and comfort to get a great night of sleep in the side sleeping position.

Determine the ideal sleeping positions for pregnant women so that you can sleep better at night. Enjoy a healthier body and baby with maternity pillows and the right knowledge. Knowledge is power, so now that you know the one, two punch to fight your pregnancy sleeping problems you should be drifting off to a comfy night of sleep with no problems.

Yes, ALL mothers are working mothers, but in this instance, I’m referring to moms who are employed outside of the home.

I found going back to work after my maternity leave was hard for the first few months. I was troubled and saddened because I had a difficult time trying to carve out a routine for pumping, and being able to be efficient at work at the same time. It was a tough experience and not easy. I don’t have any good advice for getting through this time other than just keeping the resolve to do it and go forward.

Talk with your boss about what’s going on. You may be lucky to have a supportive work base, who will applaud your decision to continue with breastfeeding. If they are not supportive, let them know the benefits of a breastfed baby (less sickness, happier baby – less work missed, etc.)

Below are tips to help ease into working.

Set a morning routine, or even prepare the night before. Having everything ready ahead of time makes the morning go easier.

Set up a pumping schedule. Go over this with your boss and co-workers. This will be done during your “break” times and you need to be able to finish the process uninterrupted. Show your boss that you can work this into your breaks without compromising your work load. They will be more inclined to be understanding and respectful of your wishes.

Make sure your “breast pump bag” is well supplied for your pumping sessions.

Find a good private room to pump. Once you’re a pro at it you will be able to pump just about anywhere.

ALWAYS clean your breast pump when you are done.

Once you’ve set the boundaries and have determined that you can do this – keep at it! Don’t allow little pitfalls or dis-respectful people to stop you. Remember the end result is that your baby is going to have the very best from you at all times. This is an effort that is to be applauded and your reward will be a healthy and happy baby.

Many women that have been diagnosed with female infertility are keen to find treatment or a cure that will enable them to have babies. I have heard from and read about women that have submitted themselves to a a lot of uncomfortable tests to try and pinpoint the cause of their infertility, so the doctor could try treatment.

Female Infertility Treatment – Medical Options

Depending on whether your doctor can find a definite scientific cause for you infertility, there are many courses of treatment may be offered to you. Fertility drugs are prescribed to force ovulation, hormone balancing drugs are prescribed to balance hormones and surgery is often recommended to fix physical conditions such as endometriosis. The negative effects of drug therapy have resulted in some true horror stories for the women seeking a female infertility treatment. Most women that I have spoken to, decided to discontinue their drug therapy despite the possible benefits, because they felt that it was doing them more harm than good.

Other women have found that in trying to discus nutritional, emotional and psychological factors as contributing to their infertility, with their doctors; they experienced negative responses. It appears that a lot of the medical community preoccupies itself with treating the symptoms of female infertility, rather than the causes.

If you are seeking to address your personal female infertility treatment from a more holistic point of view, then there are many practitioners of alternative medicine (including those that specialize in infertility, conception and pregnancy) that address all aspects (physical, nutritional, emotional and psychological factors)of female infertility treatment.

Female infertility treatment – alternative treatments

Many women have been able to overcome their infertility issues using techniques that range from changes to their diet and exercise regime, to keeping away from exposure to certain chemical and environmental influences. Here are some of the alternative female infertility treatments that have proven successful for other women:

* Nutrition for Fertility – you body requires certain vitamins and minerals in order for it to function to the best of its ability. Other dietary factors such as eating highly processed food (e.g. fast food, bleached sugar and flour) can affect how well your body functions. For example vitamin B6 (found in high quantities in garlic, tuna, banana, celery and cabbage, to name a few) has been attributed to balancing the estrogen/progesterone balances in women. Lisa Olson, in her literature on fertility, conception and pregnancy, describes in great detail how you can change your diet as a female infertility treatment.
* Exercise for Fertility – Women that exercise strenuously tend to experience irregularities in their ovulation and in some cases stop having their periods all together. Too much exercise can put lots of stress on a woman’s boy and reduce body fat levels below what is required for pregnancy to occur. If you partake in a lot of strenuous exercise, ease off for a while and give your body a chance to recover.Just as being underweight and over-exercised can reduce your fertility, so can being overweight and not active enough. In fact research suggests that being overweight can double a woman’s chances of being infertile. If you have a weight problem and are you are trying to get pregnant, loosing some weight will make you healthier, your lifestyle better, and improve your chances of conception.
* Understanding your Fertility – Another step in female infertility treatment is ensuring that you are familiar with your ovulation cycle and fertility period. When you can be certain that you are having intercourse during you 12 hour ‘window’ of fertility, you improve your chances of conceiving. There are many methods that you can use to learn about your ovulation and fertility. Once you learn to recognize the signs, you will be able to pinpoint the best time to get pregnant.
* Take a Holiday to boost your Fertility – There have been anecdotal reports that show that some women who had been diagnosed as infertile, have in fact conceived while they were on holiday. Many women undergoing female infertility treatment experience high levels of stress and anxiety, and while they are relaxing on holiday they get pregnant. When your mind and body get a chance to take a break from the stress and pressure, you relax and sometimes that is just what nature needs in order to be able to take its course.

When seeking female infertility treatment, keep in mind that although modern medicine is still learning about all of the causes and cures of female infertility, it is still important to utilize all that science has to offer that can contribute to your health and wellbeing. Where ever possible combine the best of all world – doctors, nutrition, alternative and natural treatments, as well as emotional and spiritual health.
