Hi, I Am Invited for a Wedding and I Have Never Been to an English Wedding Before. Suggest a Gift Please?

Its for my work colleague, and the invitation state, "we will not be having a wedding list" is that mean they are not expecting one or they will be happy with any gifts? I don't want to get embarrassed after giving/not giving a gift. Also I work only part time and my budget is limited.
any help will be appreciated. thanks

Suggestion:

It means any gift is okay… I'd suggest getting them a check, or something of that sort… An envelope with a card, and money inside the card. I hate wedding gifts, it's always like… Toasters, Silverwear, Platewear, stuff for the house, despite the fact ppl who own the house know what they want better than people, so I always felt check or money is the best gift you can give.

I'm not a professional though, but I do know I got some really good professional advice from www.askjacknjill.com they address things like this, and give wonderful answers. Completely free of course, check them out.
