How to Combine Two Wedding Showers into One?

I am the maid of honor for my best friend's wedding. She is in the Air Force, and wants me to plan a lingerie shower and a traditional wedding shower into one big shower. Guest would be able to bring whatever gifts they wanted. I need ideas on how to create the invitation, decorate the venue, and other things. Can anyone help?

Suggestion:

If it's at all possible, have the normal shower in the afternoon for closer family that might not be interested in attending the lingerie shower, or I suppose if her family isn't overly conservative, just have it as one big shower, and explain on the invitations that this is both a wedding shower and lingerie shower, then list all the places they're registered at, and leave it up to the guests what they want to bring. I would think a lingerie shower would be more fun like a bachelorette party, so it would be better to host at night with cocktails and snacks.

Determine who all is going and get a group census from them. I didn't have a bridal shower when I got married – I can't stand those parties.

have a Naughty and Nice shower. Make the invitations so that the guests can choose which part of the shower gifts they want to contribute. After all, at my shower, and my four sisters showers, we are a conservative family, but my mother, always wanting to spice things up, always threw in a pair on lingerie to spice things ups. So, just put it out there, and let the guests decide.

I've never heard of two separate showers, in my region of the country its not uncommon to give lingerie at a shower amongst other gifts, though it most likely comes from bridesmaids, close girlfriends, etc. However, if you are afraid some guests would be uncomfortable you could always incorporate lingerie gifts into the bachelorette party which is usually a little more wild. I do like the other posters "Naughty or Nice" idea! It gives the guests a heads up as to what type of gifts are given.. in case they are overly sensitive.
