I had that problem too hun. I found one that i really liked made by Moonlight bridal. It fit right off the rack (shocked none the less). Here is a link to the website and the dress i was able to find in a local bridal shop.

Whats nice about this dress is it has a corset back. So it can go up 2 sizes. Its very flattering around the waist. The only things i am having done is some wider straps put on and a simple bustle.
It was $525 however there are other great gowns on the site that are just as nice and less. There is a link that allows you to find a local shop in your area that sells this line. I noticed that for Minneapolis there is a store called Rush's Bridal. It's hard trying to find a dress that fits being a plus size woman and one that you can try on off the rack even harder. The Mori Lee line ''Julietta'' is a plus-size bridal line, which means the cuts were designed to flatter a larger woman's body (unlike most dresses designed for toothpicks and then remade in a size 30). http://www.morilee.com/Bridals/Julietta/

Has she tried Craigslist? There are a TON of plus size dresses that are in great condition and half the cost if she were to buy new! You can also try Davids Bridal – they have up to size 30. and if you really love a dress but it needs to go up a little in size there is always an option of getting it made bigger or perhaps just getting it made would be easiest! Google is also great – many websites are dedicated to Plus Size Brides – Just remember when she is looking for a dress A-line is best for woman w/ a bigger tummy, it hides alot and also Chiffon is a great fabric!
You know many larger sizes are available now everywhere…
Look in th phone book or online yellow pages for your area and make a few phone calls to see what they have on hand, you have to have appointments for most places anyway so just ask while your on the line!
