Newborn Gowns: a Quick and Easy Way to Keep Your Infant Cozy

Getting your infant’s clothes on is often extremely time consuming and difficult. Their bodies don’t like to cooperate, and forget about them following your instructions. One leg in, one arm out, the other leg in, out comes arm number two! Any parent can relate to this ritual.

A resolution for this challenge is a newborn gown. These newborn gowns have a length which extends beyond the baby’s feet. These gowns also have no leg-holes. Instead, a rubber band circles an open end at the gown’s bottom allowing the parent to put on and take off the baby’s gown quickly and hassle-free. In addition, because of the elastic, these gowns do not ride up on the infant during sleep.

The convenience and flexibility of this product makes it a must have for any new parent. Just like a bathrobe you wear on a chilly morning, a newborn will be quickly warmed by his or her gown. And speaking of convenience, a newborn gown can be put over a fully clothed baby, or simply on a baby in a diaper. When the diaper needs changing, just roll gown above the baby’s stomach. Another positive is that this SINGLE piece of clothing is all that’s needed to keep your newborn toasty, rather than many clothing layers. This results in fewer loads of clothes which make the journey to your laundry room.

Even though ‘gown’ implies a feminine piece of clothing which resembles a dress, newborn gowns are made for male as well as female infants. By dressing your infant boy in a sports related gown, for example, a parent can feel assured that he does not appear feminine. Because the styles which gowns are available in are virtually limitless, even the choosiest of parents will have no problem locating a gown which is perfect for their special infant.

These gowns also come in an extensive variety of ‘kid-friendly’ fabrics . A recent, very popular cousin of an infant gown is the infant sack, a.ka. sleep sack. A sleep sack most often has no hole at the sack’s bottom. The ones which do have a hole usually have a zipper to seal the hole, or the more convenient Velcro seam. Either type will allow a parent to easily open the sack. This genius item also has the distinction of being possibly the cutest piece of baby clothing: seeing your infant cuddled up in a sleep sack is just about the most precious thing. Only their tiny little heads peek out of this encompassing cocoon.

Most of the big children clothes lines offer newborn gowns such as Carters, and you can easily locate the gown you are looking for at just about any retailer which has a newborn section: Walmart, Babys ‘R Us, and Target to name a few.
