Planning A Red Wedding Without Making Big Mistakes

Wearing a bold red wedding dress would be nothing new in China where it has long been a tradition, but brides all over the globe are now picking up this fashion trend as well. If you are ready to ditch the boring white and jazz up your big day with something more suiting to your exuberant personality, then you may be considering a red wedding. That is great news, as long as you know the common mistakes that are often made.

Planning a red wedding may seem to be just like planning any other wedding theme, but it does have a couple special considerations that must be taken into account. Mainly, the biggest mistakes arise when brides and planners do not realize that red can be an extremely bold color and can easily be overdone.

You never want to overdo a wedding! That can completely ruin everything else you have so carefully designed.

For starters, you have to remember that your gown should be a personal reflection of your personality and spirit. If you have a quieter, laid back personality you may not carry off a solid red dress as well as someone who has a very loud, outgoing personality. Don’t force the solid red if you can’t carry it off beautifully.

Yet, this doesn’t mean your dreams of a red wedding have to be crushed. You can always go with an ivory or white dress with luxurious red detailing. That may actually look much nicer on some figures than a solid red dress.

If you have a very big personality, then your guests are likely to nod their head and confirm that you carry that red gown very well. If you have a smaller personality, they may wonder why you chose such a color!

The second common mistake regards the dress as well, but from a new angle. When it comes to selecting a red wedding dress, don’t cut the budget too much. The shade of red and style used as well as the type of material incorporated is very important. White is a very forgiving color that can be made cheaply without looking cheap. This isn’t always so with red.

You don’t want to fall into the trap of a red dress that looks cheap, even it was! This means selecting higher quality materials and going with a deeper colored rosy red rather than something that looks like it came right out of the crayon box.

The last mistake to avoid is going way overboard with too much red. The most stunning weddings are created when the red is well balanced with other colors, both in the wedding party’s outfits and in the surrounding decorations. You don’t want literally everything in sight to be plain red.

One good idea is to balance a solid red wedding dress with a solid white tuxedo on the groom. White dresses with red accents on the bridesmaids can present some contrast and lighten it up some as well.

Ivory, chocolate brown, and some shades of pink can make excellent contrast colors as well.

If you feel you have what it takes to strut the aisle in solid red, then go for it! If not, then go with a more tamed but equally stunning white with red detailing. Either way, you should enjoy the process of planning your red wedding.
