Let’s face it; choosing the ideal wedding song should really be a moment you both share because more often than not, the two of you will have your favorite song that just seems to capture the way you feel about each other. As you know, musicians are for ever creating songs which are ideal for couples and which can be used at weddings irrespective of what your age is.
Traditional music such as the wedding march is a staple of a marriage ceremony but the wedding song should be one that reflects on both of you. There are plenty of songs to choose from and when you start trying to find one the list gets pretty long. Try to narrow it down to a few songs you both like and then decide from there.
It doesn’t really matter who chooses the song just as long as you both agree upon it. Unlike the groom’s cake which is seldom compared to the wedding cake, the song should be a couple minded tune. If you are creative enough to write your own song and have it recorded you can do that as well, but try not to put anymore stress on yourselves than necessary.
Wedding songs that are played during the first dance between a newly married couple are very special. Be sure to choose a wedding song that you can slow dance to and if you have it on disc make sure that it’s cued up by the person running the sound system. Since you will be introduced as Mr. and Mrs. you want to start with a memorable first song.
If the two of you decide to have a band play your song while you dance in each other’s arms, then you need to make absolutely certain they’re familiar with the song beforehand. There are an endless number of songs to choose from, whether they’re old classics that everybody is familiar with, or whether they’re the newer generation wedding songs that are typically geared towards love. Above all, don’t concern yourself with whether or not people like your song of choice because after all, it’s your day.
You can choose from soul classics or pop rock hits. Bands such as Aerosmith, Journey, Bon Jovi and REO Speedwagon are always top favorites. Singers like Lionel Richie, Percy Sledge, Luther Vandross and Stevie Wonder add a soulful element to a wedding song. To show your mate how much you love them you can always get your wedding song as their ring tone.
Of course, as is to be expected, the younger generation for the most part often decides to use songs from the newer generation artists such as Usher, Oasis, Vanessa Carlton and Kelly Clarkson. The main thing to remember is, choosing the ideal song for your wedding should not only be fun, but it should also reflect on your life together. As such, one shouldn’t feel obligated to choose one of the traditional songs.
When you want to lay on the sappiness you can choose from Air Supply, The Carpenters, Bette Midler or Styx. If you are not the traditional couple and want to have a little fun you can beef up the wedding song choices by going with Fastball, Guns N’ Roses, Billy Idol or Whitesnake. Make your first song a fun start to a new life.
