The root of all great love is making the relationship actually about love. In this generation, sex is almighty powerful for the short term but to have any success at an actual relationship and a future together, that doesn’t seem to work. Divorce rates are climbing while marriage rates are decreasing. Now is the mentality that you don’t need a spouse to have sex or even kids but what is that all doing for us? The root of all great love is beyond lust.
Lust is an easy emotion but the real reason less people are getting married is because love isn’t lasting as long as it used to. More are getting divorced so less are confident about loving the same person for fifty years. Sex is so damaging but talk to your grandparents who have been married for many decades and ask them how they started dating. Sex might have been there but talk to the pros and you will see sex was not the main drive to romance and everlasting love.
Forget about sex for now and focus on one thing: friendship. Take enough time to become best friends. Honestly. Best friends are so hard to break up because they care very much about each other. They confide in one another, trust whole-heartedly, act themselves whether silly or sad, and they are always completely honest. Best friends tell each other everything and they feel happy to be around each other. Now add romance and love to the mix and it’s a beautiful thing. Become best friends and find the root of all great love.
