Wedding Vows Traditional or Write Your Own?

I was just wondering what your thoughts are on traditional wedding vows or writing your own wedding vows. We haven't decided yet and just want some feedback. Thanks

Suggestion:

You write you own vows. Need the time to put your feelings down on paper. Remembering what you wrote is not an easy task standing at the alter. Both of you have to agree to write them. Writing them out on little note papers looks stupid.

Repeating after the officiant is easy.

Maybe you could get the officiant to read them and you repeat them after him as you would normally. I don't know why that hasn't been done.

You know what you are capable of doing. Discuss it and find the best way for both of you. You didn't ask but I will say…. another nice thing to do at a religious ceremony (I don't think it will work for a High Mass.) have the officiant stand with his/her back to the audience while the two of you face the audience. It looks good and everyone can clearly see and hear you.
