"Inviting you to the celebration of the wedding of John Smith and Jane Doe"
or
"Inviting you to the celebration of the wedding of John and Jane Doe"
we are not married yet, and will not be married until the day before the celebration.
Any help would be appreciated!!!
Suggestion:
This is how I would word it, with these notes:
~ Still use your maiden name even though you will be married by the time of the celebration. These invites would go out prior to that…so using your maiden name is appropriate;
~ Mention that you will be married in a private ceremony on the previous day
My idea:
Amanda Sue Smith
and
Ryan Thomas Jones
invite you to a celebration in honor of their marriage
Saturday, the eleventh of December
Two thousand ten
Six o'clock in the evening
Golf Shores Country Club
111 Main Street
Tampa, Florida
Amanda and Ryan will be married in a private
ceremony on Friday, December 10.
~ It's up to you how formal you want to do the wording with regard to the day/date/time.
~ If you want to be more informal, you can go with Saturday, December 11; 6:00 p.m., etc.
